Abstract of relinquishments, 1821-1827.

Lists of land tracts relinquished under an act of Congress (March 2, 1821) include Receiver's office folio number; number of remaining tracts held by the relinquisher; purchaser name and residence; relinquished tract legal description; amount owed by purchaser (i.e., total purchase price; interest accrued); amount paid by or credited to purchaser (i.e., cash paid; discount allowed; interest paid); whole or partial relinquished tract legal description; reliquished tract acreage and purchase value; legal description of tract not relinquished for which purchase price has been completely paid; number of acres and total purchase price of tract not relinquished; application of any excess amount paid on relinquished tract; payments completed by cash at a discount of 37 1/2 percent at relinquishment time; land not relinquished for which further credit has been given; Register's certificate number; purchaser, assignee, or legal representative name and residence.

The Shawneetown Land District Office was created by an act of Congress on February 21, 1812.
